Scared and Confused not only for myself but for my Step-Sister

Sun, 10/29/2006 - 05:44
My Step-Sister almost 2 years ago started having seizures, she stares blankly and does respond to you calling her but her eyes are fixed to the left and she is looking over her shoulder. She also sometimes has small convulsants with her arms waving in the air and her body goes stiff. She is on Lamitcal and Clobazam, SHE IS 5 years old, poor thing. She gets them more frequently when she has a cold or temperature and also she seems to be sensitive to dairy, particulary cheese. She eats a lot of cheese. Does anyone find their experiences similar? Now on to me ........ I have been known to stare off into space, ever since I started school. Even now I feel like my eyes don't focus, like they cross and can't fix on what I want to focus on. It that a form of epilepsy? I also get a bad headache and I am sick not long afterwards and that is everytime I get a headache. It's all so confusing. Thankyou to all that reply, I appreciate your help.

Hi Natarsha, and welcome. I'm sorry to hear about your sister, and hope she improves. Angel's links might help out with your sisters possible allergic reactions. I say 'possible' as the only one that can be sure for certain what is happening here is somebody medically qualified. That applies to you as well as your sister. Angel's asked already if anybody has seen what's been happening to you. If they have, then ask them to document that, and you keep that real safe unil you go get this checked out. The headache you have could be migraine, but I'm no doctor. There is the chance here you could be having seizure activity, and it's possible for more than one family member to have epilepsy. In my family more than one member has. As my family knows research in this field of epilepsy is onging and has moved on since some researchers thought epilepsy in familes meant Unverricht-Lundberg. I don't know how good your relationship is with your parents, and I'm not asking for details about that. All I'm saying is if you can talk to them, you should. Best wishes to you, and your sister. Hang in there, and stay positive and upbeat. Cat. "Many false prophets are gone out into the world." 1 John 4:1
