Possible Absence Seizures?

Tue, 07/28/2015 - 11:36

Hi there! For as long as I can remeber I have always been telling my mom I was "feeling like I was in a dream" and not knowing where I was at for a few brief seconds. As time went on they seemed to go away. Now 22, they have came back but much worse. I would be driving and suddenly not know where I was at and space out in a almost daze. It eventually ended up with me getting into a wreck with my son in the car with me. I "space out," fidget my hands and mouth and my pupils get very large from what my husband and family has told me. I have had 2-24 hr EEGs, CT scan after the accident, blood work, EKGs and they have all been normal. I had an abnormal tilt table test so they ruled it syncope, but the symptoms add up more for absence seizures than they do for that. I have seen two different neurolgists and feel as if I am at a stand still. We recently purchased a GoPro to hopefully catch some "Episodes" where they happen the most: the gym, and when relaxing. I didn't know if any one else has had a similar situation or could help me figure out an answer. Thanks!

Hi there, I believe so that you had an absence seizure. My very first "episode" I thought was absence seizures as well. (I'm in treatment for partial epilepsy right now.). Do you lose track of time?  Does your vision feel off before or after the episode?  Those are symptoms I've had and I've read/heard about with that form of seizures. I hope you find your answers. This website is a great place to get some insight, support, and help!
