Also a university graduate and former theatre major, let me assure you I was NOT the least impressed with the words on that preview page. "Epilepsy victims usually fall down, start kicking uncontrollably, and appear to be struggling for breath." That is a HUGE error. There are over 40 different types of E, and IMO you did NO good for the concept of the condition via your garbage play. All it shows is your lack of research.(Nothing to be proud of) ~sol

I also was not happy with that first sentence introducing the play. "Epilepsy victims usually fall down, start kicking uncontrollably, and appear to be struggling for breath. It is widely believed that during an attack, the victim becomes unconscious." My son has Atonic seizures... he does fall to the ground at a very high rate of speed and really hurts himself. Atonic seizures have NO convulsions what so ever. The stigma still goes on..... :(

Dear Solis et al, I thank you all for your comments, my group has read and appreciated them, but I need to explain an obvious misunderstanding in some of the posts. The first paragraph, which is quoted by you and those who mention that I should do more research, is actually the impression of the journalist who wrote the article. My comments are put in quotes. The play was thoroughly reasearched. Part of that research involved registering on this website, and contacting other organizations like the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago, to get all the information I needed to make the play worth the effort and argument. On its premiere, several people with the condition, with whom we had consulted and given the script for assessment gave testimonies to the audience, and invited people to come forward - the responses have justified what we, in enigma productions, set out to achive - to change people's stigmatization and fear of people with the condition. Also, as an upshot of the play, several people who, prior to the play, were ashamed to admit they have the condition contacted my group through the helpline I had set up. Now we have a resource group that meets every month to discuss issues related to the condition, and to give advice to those on where they can get professional help. This is what the play was meant to achieve. Once again, I thank you for your comments. Best wishes, F-K Omoregie
