there are sleep jerks that are not seizures, so it would be impossible for someone to know over the internet. you really would need him evaluated and it might fall completely into a normal category, it also could take a few different specialists to figure that out - at least the neurologists in our sleep program are not really the regular neurologists who treat seizures (and most of the docs in sleep program are pulmonologists) just like the EEG during a sleep study can have fewer leads than the EEGs they do when they are looking at potential seizures.

We went to a neurologist at Children's in Boston and he doesnt seem to think it is seizures and just in case has ordered a 24 hr EEG in a month's time. Do i take him at his word or should i get a seconf opinion? His pediatrician also isnt worried but it freaks me out. The more I research the more I get scared. How effective is the 24 hr EEG in detecting seizures? Thank you for all the advice. I  really appreciate it.

People twitch and jerk in

People twitch and jerk in their sleep normally. My husband thrashes around and kicks his feet up like he's riding a bicycle. He's not a sound sleeper but nor do I worry about it. If you child gets a 24 hr EEG and it comes out clear, there's no need in my opinion to get a second opinion. Your child is probably dreaming!
