Partial?

Hi I am new here but not new to epilepsy, My Mom and my aunt both have TC seizures. I grew up with it, but now my DR thinks I have it. I don't think I do. I am wondering what those who have dealt with the other seizure types think. when i was about 21 I started having grey outs and sometimes i would talk gibberish, i knew what i wanted to say but it came out gibberish, very embarrasing. I got concerned when i was having them a few times a year. Dr ordered EEG, normal. Found out 2 years later I have a hormonal issue. 3 years ago my greyouts became more frequent, a few times a week, but did not go to Dr. then last year my episodes increased, hubby said GO to Dr. I now have them 1 to 3 times a day sometimes i can go for a about a week without one. I do not shake or tense or lose consciousness. I know that i am having an issue. when an episode presents itself i can't see for a second then everything is blurry, when it starts i feel like my head moves forward, but my husband says it doesn't, he says that i just look like i am lost and if i am walking i look drunk. I am confused and am not sure where i'm at or what i may have missed, this only lasts for less then a minute, very uncomfortable when i am talking to someone. then i am just really tired, physically and mentally. there is no jerking or any kind of smell, my mother had those warning signs, i have none, they just come. So, i am trying for a concensus on my thoughts that another issue, like something related to the hormonal issue, is really in play with my episodes. I really appreciated any help Sorry so long PS love the sight I emailed my mom about it Sutemos

Hi Sutemos, Glad to see you have joined the site ! I have learned a great deal and made some great friends by participating here. My advice to you would be to see an epileptologist (neuro that specializes in epilepsy), to find out what is going on. It is possible that you are having seizures, and hormonal issues can exacerbate them. It is also possible that something else is causing these problems. The epileptologist should be able to run tests, such as an ambulatory EEG, MRI, etc. with your family history, I think it would definitely be wise to find out. To find an epileptologist in your area, you can check out the following link: http://www.epilepsy.com/dr_redirect.html Seizures can manifest themselves in many different ways. To find out about the different types of seizures, a good link is http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/types_seizures.html Keeping a journal of these episodes is a good idea, including when they happen, when your monthly cycle hits, what you feel, what others see, etc. It will help the doctor in their quest for answers. I wish you the best of luck, and be sure to keep us posted. (There are over 40 different variations ofg seizures) http://www.epilepsy.com/101/ep101_symptom.html I also suggest you look at the description of simple partial seizures (where one retains consciousness). http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/seizure_simplepartial.html I agree with Barb, epileptologists have been the best physicians I've had. The first one I saw got me completely controlled for the first time in m my entire life. The second initiated the tests for my seizure operation. Best of luck and please do not drive a car for now. ~sol

Hey , Thats the kind of seizures I used to have! But my husband said I would make strange sounds. One time,And this story is thes Gods truth.I felt really good one time and wanted to go fishing,I wore my medic-alert bracelet,my husband dropped me off at the peir.I was at the end of the peir, went into aseizure.I climbed off the side of the peir and went into the water! They said aman jump in and held me up until the life guards got there.I almost got arrested once in k-mart,had aseizure took my shirt off and wrapped myself up in arug. They thought I was on drugs. If I had aseizure in the car,my husband would lock the doors because I always tried to open the car door.
