Not convinced that I have epilepsy

Wed, 03/01/2017 - 10:15
I had 2 episodes (1 1/2 years ago) of what I was told are "auras" then went through testing for heart problems, CT scans, EEGs and blood tests. All the results to come back in normal ranges. I was put on lamotrigine before getting EEGs and the blood test and haven't had any episodes since. I am still skeptical that I even have epilepsy as nothing can be proven conclusively. I am going through an emotional roller coaster trying to make sense of it still.

Your doctor is convinced and that is why you were prescribed anticonvulsants. You have not had any symtomps since taking anti epileptic drugs, that means that they are working. My son has had 5 EEGs and they have all been normal. He is epileptic. All CT scans, MRIs etc. are normal.I think you are confused. Let me explain. If you have normal EKG, normal sugar and white blood counts, normal MRI and CT scans, that means that your seizures are unprovoked. So when one one has normal tests actually means that epilepsy is the cause of your symptoms. People need more than one EEG or longer EEGs in a lot of cases, particularly those with mild types of it.
