Normal EEG but ? form of epilepsy

Thu, 06/11/2015 - 22:09

hi

My daughter is 21 and has serious cervical spinal abnormalities - Klippel Feil Syndrome. In the last year she has started to have severe lower back pain then her right leg gives way and she falls. However she does not seem to know she is falling and so never stops herself and face plants the ground. After it has happened she is either unconscious or confused and her right leg spasms badly. Sometimes the right leg , when she is walking or sitting starts to jerk or have a tremor lasting minutes to and hour. Most severe episodes her whole body jerks. Had EEG but normal. Doctor in emergency yesterday said it might still be a form of epilepsy. So I know it's a long shot but has anyone here heard of anything like my daughter has? We are desperate for answers. Thankyou

I had 20-25 different EEG's all came back normal. I fell asleep in another EEG in which they saw abnormalities in the left lobes of my brain. Those abnormalities were spikes or waves. Abnormalities are seizure activity. The ER Doctor stated it could be a form of epilepsy, Which from what you posted it does sound like they could be different types of seizures.

I would suggest you go see a neurologist and tell him of the different time she had done this and discuss it with him. If you set up an appt. and she has another episode with you arround then video it if possiable. But if her legs go out and you see muscles jerk ot=r twicth then the neurologist may diagnosis epilepsy since all it takes is 2 seizures. the neurologist may prescribe seozure medicatins so he will need to know all the meds she takes so the medications don't counter each other.
