Hi I'm new to this site. I am 26 and had my first seizure around 7 months ago. I had another exactly 1 week later then another 6 weeks later. They have all been at night while I was sleeping. I was put on Tegretol after my last seizure and have been seizure free for 6 months. I am supposed to stay on Tegretol for 2 years. I had many tests after my first seizure, an MRI, CTG, EEG and all come up clear. Because I have had 3, I have been diagnosed with Epilepsy but I do not believe I have epilepsy as nothing showed up in the tests. My partner and I were about to try for our second child right when I had my first seizure, so it has been very hard for us. We are now thinking of trying for a child now but I don't know if I would like to continue taking the Tegretol. I think I would prefer to stop it but am concerned I will have more seizures. I would have to say that having these seizures are the worst thing that has happened to me in my life, and I was extremely paranoid of having another one but now that it has been 6 months I have regained my confidence. I know that if I was to have another seizure then I would lose my confidence again. I am just very grateful that when I have then my partner has always been in bed beside me. I find the whole seizure situation very scary as it is so new to me and it's so hard to know what to do.

Mel Anyone will tell you and a doctor that it is safer to be on the meds for you and your baby during pregnancy. I too was on tegretal for three of my children along with another medication. I do have two children with learning disabilities that is not too bad at all. But I was also on Phenobarbital and my meds were very high dose. It is really important to stay on the meds, and dont go off cold turkey, very dangerous thing to do. Seizures are scary. Any they can bring anxiety too. But you need to start learning, researching, that will get you through all your fears. For we all have been there many times. I want to wish you the best Check out the links below, one has tons of info and the other has pillows that you can use to help with some of your anxiety. Also check out www.epilepsy.com for info too Lisa http://www.sleep-safe.co.uk/id90.htm http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
