New to seizures (maybe) and Deja Vu too!

Wed, 11/02/2016 - 11:18
Hi, So I guess I had a seizure or maybe seizures - so I do have a bunch of questions but since at work I'll maybe just ask a few when I have the chance. So a very dumb little thing has me curious since it just happened again - deja vu - well that's what I call it - not sure if it's the same thing other people mean by deja vu - but for me it is these quick little like flashes of sort of memory - but not an actual memory, just like what I think is about to be a memory, but I never know what it is - it's often associated with smells or other environmental stimulation - and it feels like 'this' happened before - but I never really know what 'this' is. Anyhow - so yes, I did have other more medical type symptoms afterward, like migraines (for several days), nausea, frequent sleepiness for a few days, etc, but then after I got myself back on track a bit, I started looking for info online - and what do I see - but that deja vu is actually associated with seizure! How freaky - but I thought for the bit I did read, that it looked like the deja vu has more to do with it being a warning that a seizure is coming - like an aura (which I do get visual auras the past few years (occasionally) before I get a migraine). But I don't remember approximately an hour and a half before the seizure (I only know that because the last thing I remembered was sending out a tweet at 10:30pm and I'm told by my neighbour that it was at least midnight when the ambulance came. So if I did have deja vu (or an aura of any sort) before it happened - I wouldn't know if it happened after 10:30. Anyhow - so now I should get to the question ( sorry for being long winded - if I had more time, I would go back and edit that ramble) - so the question is - does anyone else experience deja vu after a seizure? (BTW - it has been maybe a month since it happened - though now that I know a bit more about the subject - perhaps it's not the first one I've had - but that's a subject for another time. haha ) Okay - so thanks to anyone who took the time to read and/or answer. Have a good day, Linda

The strange feelings (deja vu

The strange feelings (deja vu, auras) are because your brain is malfunctioning and your subconscious is taking over for a while. Think of it as sleepwalking. Due to the uniqueness of our minds the experiences vary like our dreams before and after a seizure. But they are all from a physical mis-function in the brain-epilepsy. The best thing about an epilepsy diagnosis is you know what's happening. You may not know the cause-like many other medical conditions- but you can treat it. This will help your terrible migraines and other effects from your brain trying to help itself recover after a seizure-like it would after during a "hangover'.A Neurologists can help you determine what is the best for your particular type of seizure. The more you delay treatment the more intense your seizures will be. Your brain just needs a little help-like your heart would if having problems. You'll feel so much better physically and mentally as well!
