New onset Seizure

Wed, 07/26/2006 - 15:03
Hello I am so happy I have found this site, I have been readings recents forums. And I have to say it has certainly has educated me. Recently I have been diagnosed with new onset seizure back in December and the doctor has diagnosed that my seizures are due to stress at work. I have been seizure free for the past 5 months and have recently returned back to work. Within the past two weeks I have had 2 seizures since my returned. I can't understand why this is happening to me.. I have noticed though I have not been taking my meds Lamictal 100mg2/day on a timely basis. Normally I take them at 10am and again 10pm, but since I have been back to work I have occasionaly have led the day go on and then realize it's two in the afternoon and I haven't taking my meds. I guess my question is has anyone had similar occurences due to not taking the medicines accordingly? Going to see the doc tonight...kind feel nervous about it.

Hello Evelyn, Stess can be a big onset of seizures, so being at a stressful or tiring job you could be having the seizures because of your return to work. It is important to take your medication on a regular schedule though. They do have pill holders that you can set the time your to take your medication. If you plan on working this job I would suggest that you buy one so you won't forget to take your medication. Once you have missed a dosage if it is close to the time for your next dosage (don't take it) wait to take your next dosage at the proper time to get back on schedule. I believe this is what your doctor will tell you when you go to your appointment. You should ask him what he suggest to do when you miss a dosage. Hope this helps you some. But definately ask the doctor what he thinks, because I am not a doctor, I am just saying what I believe I have heard in the past. Have a great day and good luck. Cathy
