hi my name is samantha and I'm new ro this site.. I recently found out that my 4yr old daughter's EEG showed signs of epilepsy, she's had a total of 2 seizures one last year and one wednesday.. me and her father aren't sure what triggered the seizure..

welcome Samantha! it's actually fairly common to not find out the cause, so it's best to focus on what kinds of seizures he has and treatment that works well for him (includes having a doc you who explains things well, listens well and partners with you).we found out ~3.5 years into this journey that our child's epilepsy is likely genetic (well, it would be more than exceptional if it weren't but this is based on how things have changed over time). we initially thought there were seizures some months before turning six, realized different people had seen odd things since age four. after seeing a neurologist it became clear there were a lot of seizures occurring that we didn't realize were seizures. initially the neurologist chalked it up to damage from something else. for many people this condition is more of a journey than everything easy to sort right off the bat, there're so many differences between people.
