Hello, I am a 26 yo female who was just diagnosed with having epilepsy about 3 weeks ago. I have had a few episodes in the past few years where I would get an aura (learned that term after the doc explained what it was) and I would faint, but at those times I tried to explain it away as something else. I had also had panic attacks as a teen, but now maybe thinking they might have had something to do with this? I'm not sure. I was prescribed Keppra, of which I'm 1500mg daily. Last year it happened 3 times, and the final time (on Dec 31, 2:30 am) I was simply painting at my table and out of no where I suddenly got an aura in my stomach and passed out. This episode caused my boyfriend to have an anxiety attack since he didn't know what was going on, but I was calm after I woke up because I knew this had happened to me before. Well with his anxiety the way it was I went to the doctor to get checked out and that's when I was sent to a neurologist and diagnosed. I had an MRI/MRA scan done and EEG about 2 weeks ago and was set up for a follow up appointment for this upcoming Friday (Jan 27) but I think I had another, different type of seizure just this past Friday which has definitely made me more nervous. This time it was around 7:30 pm, again I was just sitting in the living room with my brother playing a game when all of a sudden I had a different aura in my head this time, my head got really really warm and I laid down. This time I was conscious but then I started having muscle spasms in my thighs which lasted about 10 minutes with a few seconds of rest in between. I've been exhausted and had headaches since, and my sleep has been very restless. I just got my appointment moved up to tomorrow since I'm really worried that it was only 20 days after the previous one. The other ones had been at least 3 months apart. With it being so close to the last one, I'm afraid to drive and will ask my doctor about accommodations to work from home, which luckily some people in my office do so it's not that out of the ordinary for my place of work. I guess I'm writing this because it's all so new to me, and I'm a person that needs to understand everything as much as I can and would really appreciate talking to others with this diagnosis. I'm trying to find some humor and positivity in all of this, but it's hard when the person I live with is so anxious about it and I can't talk about it as much as I would like. Again, I need to talk through things to get my mind wrapped around it and he doesn't really want me to go into details because it makes him uncomfortable. I'm grateful that my parents and siblings are right across the street from me in case of an emergency, they're doing really well with all of this. Well there's that, thank you for reading and hope to meet and talk to some new people :)
