That is great that your son has not had a seizure in 9 months. My daugther, also 5, was diagnosed with Benign Occipital Childhood Epi. You mentioned he is having sleep issues. Are the sleep problems related to his seizures? Are his seizures during sleep or daytime? My daughter's only have occurred during sleep.. She is on a real small dose of Topomax which she started in March and she seems to be adjusted to it. Do you think his crankiness is attributed to the meds or the sleep issues?

I know it has to be very hard to see your child's behavior change as a result of the meds he is on. Have you told the docs? It seems if his reactions are really strong to the meds, maybe the docs should consider something else. My daughter's is on Topomax. She does the sprinkle tablets-- just one at night (15mg). We were supposed to switch to a double dose after two weeks but we switched docs before her being on the meds two weeks and the new docs said we did not have to up the dose. I think a second dose would have been tough on her. How do you know your child is having the seizures at night? My child would sit up and cough as if she was going to throw up. Now she seems to have adjusted good to the meds.
