Hi my name is Maghen I am 28 years old. My mother and little brother both suffer from seizures. Last year (2015) I had two events within a month of eachother. I was told that I passed out with convulsions I had an eeg that was normal and was sent on my way. About a month ago I went to the movies with my husband we were only there about 10 mins when I started to sweat and feel sick. I passed out in the chair my body tightened up I began to shake and foam from the mouth. I was also vomiting while unconscious. Upon regaining consciousness I was still vomiting I was confused and in a daze. I went to the hospital where they took my blood and gave me an ekg and then sent home. The only thing I really remember about the movie was that it was extremely loud to me I asked my husband if he thought so and he said no.I slept the entire time I was at the hospital and most of the next day. That night my husband said I was shaking in my sleep so he again took me back to the hospital where I had an eeg that was normal and some head scans that were also normal. I was told that the event was stress and I should see a psychologist. So I did who was highly upset that they sent me to him and said that in his 20 years of practice has never seen someone with stress go through anything like this. I have had a headache for about 4 weeks since the event I have had some good days and some bad days where I feel "off". I also think I passed out again a few days ago but I was alone so I'm not sure if I was convulsing or not. I wanted a second opinion so I am seeing a neurologist at U of M and would really love some feed back as far as does this sound like anything anyone else has experienced? Can I be having a seizure and it not show on my eeg? Can loud noise be a trigger? What questions should I be asking my new doctor about what is going on. Since the event I have been keeping a log of how I feel each day and where my headaches are located such as more on left than right. Along with the pain behind my eye and sensitivity to light and my BP throughout the day. I have no idea what is going on and I feel like the doctor's I have seen are making me feel like I am crazy and there is nothing wrong with me but if that were the case I feel like this wouldn't have happened. Any information will be greatly appreciate. Thank you so much

Welcome Meganlets start with your first 2 events. Both of which could have been seizures. If a person is taken to the ER the doctors there run general tests. Which are run on most people. If they did a EEG and it came back normal fine. Short EEG's will generally come back normal. A person can have a seizure and it may not be epileptic. A friend takes a medication for his heart and one of the medications side effects is ot might cause seizures. Diabetics can have seizures for reasons associated with their blood. So if the ER doctors saw nothing on the tests then they will release you. The confused and in a daze is going to happen and it does take time to get back to normal. That shaking while you were sleeping could also be associated with a seizure (nocturnal elipesy). Being sent to a psychologist is beyond me, They should have sent you to a neurologist first. Head aches can be parts of seizures as can many other things.Seeing a neurologist as you say you are is what you need. They will ask questions and answer them truthfully since they gain information with their questions. Yes a person can have seizures that do not sho on the EEG. The EEG is a brain wave test showing the electrical output coming from your brain at that time. Kind of like the EKG which shows the electrical output from the heart. You posted sensitive to light. There are some seizures cause by changing of lights. Keeping your log can help and it might help when talking to the neurologist. But they may not need itAs for the doctors in the ER they do not know about all the different types of seizures. They do not know what can start a seizure. They are great at runing the tests, fixing a broken bone. scrapes and scratches and other things. Oh and yes heart attacks. As for this happening "Anybody at any age at any time can get epilepsy" Epilepsy does not discriminate.  Relax and wait for your appointment and just do what you normally do. If the neurologist prescribs a medication do take it as directed. If it says 2 times a day ask if those are 12 hours apart. It takes time for the medications to build up in your body since seizure medications are not like aspirin where once taken it is gone in a few hours. Ask the neurologist questions. Start here and research about the different types of epilepsy and types of seizures.I hope this helps and please come back and let us know how things go and went..Joe
