New to this and VERY confused

Hi there. So I have not actually been diagnosed with epilepsy. I don't have insurance and therefore cant afford to even see a doctor about the issues I'm having. I do not have a very good understanding of epilepsy at all, so some of my questions may seem silly and I apologize. Here's my story. I am a 22 year old female that has no medical history of epilepsy or seizures. About two years ago something changed though. Apparently I started having "seizures" while sleeping. I do not if they actually are seizures though. I NEVER remember them. Every time one has been documented it was because I was either sharing a bed with my boyfriend or a room with my sister (family vacation). Apparently I make these weird moaning and grunting noises while shaking uncontrollably. I sweat profusely also (I usually wake up soaked and even wet the bed once). My boyfriend (who has witnessed this multiple times) and my sister (who has witnessed 3 times) say that it is very hard to wake me when this is happening and that it is very scary for them to witness. My boyfriend has also reported that once after he tried to wake me I actually stood up and continued moaning then attacked him (he actually had to lock himself in the bathroom until I calmed down) after I calmed down he was able to lead me back to bed. The next morning I remembered none of this. The "sleepwalking" only happened once, but the "seizures" are happening more often. I always wake up the next morning with a massive headache and a sore body. That is the only indication I have that anything is happening at all, which even scarier for me. Is it even possible to develop epilepsy at such an age? And can you have seizures and not know it? Oh, and there is no correlation between when this started and any type of head injury. The only time I have hurt my head was four years ago when I had to get 17 stitches in my four head. Thank you to everyone/anyone who takes the time to read this and can offer any advice or clarity into the situation.

One can start having seizures

One can start having seizures at any age. Kids and seniors have a higher rate than others but it can happen.  Seizures don't have to start immediately after a head injury, an injury can be the precipating event for seizures that start years later.  You really need someone to look at your concerns, can you be on your parents' insurance, does your county/state offer clinics that could help or can you sign up next open enrollment period?

Anyone at any age can have

Anyone at any age can have epilesy.. As for a hear injury and not having seizures until later that can happen. I have scared brain tissue due to a hemmorage to the brain which happenes when I was 6-8. I didn't have seizures until I was 12-13.Your seizures could be nocturnal meaning you have them at night or possiably during a nap. With thos they can also come right before going to sleep or right after waking up. If you lose conciousness in them then you would not know anything about them. Muck like a grand mal seizure (tonic clonic). So yes you can have seizures and not know it. The longer you wait to have this issue checked the worse the seizures can get. There are 40+ different types of seizures so start reading up on them. Start with this site under the learn section.@ tests will be done. Generally the first will be an EEG which is a brain wave test which shows the electrical output by your brain. If it comes back normal fine many can and do. If it comes back with abnormalities then they know where th seizure activity is comming from. As for not having insurance have you thought of medicaid since it is for people to get the care they need even if they have no jobs or ways to pay for their care? If you were on your parents insurance then you might still have insurance. You really need to have this issued checked out. You need to see a specialist and take your sis and BF with you so the neurologist can get info from them. Basically all it takes to diagnosis epilepsy is 2 seizures. Medications are out that can help control your seizures. I hope this helps and you get the assistance you need. Joe
