In need of advice

I've never joined a form before, but I'm not sure what to do in this instance. I will try and be as brief as possible. My fiance used to smoke pot everyday all day since he was ten. We got together 5 years ago and he quit. About 6 months later he had a seizure while sleeping. He played it off as working in the heat and went on about his business. Then he had another one at a gas station where he was taken to the ER and given multiple tests such as an MRI, CT Scan, and a EEG. The EEG was with a neurologist who specializes in epilepsy. No cause was found and the gave him Phenytoin to take. Two at night. Fast forward to yesterday, (4 years seizure free) he had another seizure, very frightening. We didn't go to ER (he's stubborn) but I have an apt. For him at the primary care provider on the 29th and one with the neurologist on Jan. 9th. It was the only appointments we could get in. I'm wondering if there are tests we should ask to have them perform? How long/what signs indicate that I should call 911? Is there a high morality rate? I've asked these things at the doctor's and they gave me blatant answers. I just want to be as informed as possible and have tried obtaining as much information on my own through research, but I feel first hand experience from others tends to be more helpful. Thank you all for the help. The Anxious Spouse
