Myoclonic jerks

Mon, 09/25/2017 - 08:37
Hello I'm new here and I don't actually have epilepsy however I do have a twin brother with epilepsy. For the longest time my jaw does this strange thing where if I read out loud or if it's just relaxing it'll close really quickly. It only happens once and it's so fast that no one notices it unless I happen to be in the middle of saying a word and then it sounds like I put an extra letter in the word. And if I continue to read or talk sometimes it'll get worse and happen more often. I have to take a second to recollect myself before continuing. I call it a jaw twitch because it happens so fast but I've bit my tongue enough to know it's pretty forceful and completely involuntary. I never thought much of it but I got curious the other night after it happened when I was just relaxing with my jaw partially opened and it happened. So I did some reasearch and found myoclonic jerks... but it only happens to my jaw? Does this sound like myoclonic jerks even though it only happens to my jaw? I realize this is a small issue but I just wanted some insight. Thanks in advance.
