This is my first post and I wanted to tell my story...

Hello everyone. I have to deal with alot of workplace stress which apparently is the root of my abscense seizure problem. When I was 16 I was havin the big ones now at the age of 30 I have 2 second seizures where my head turns slowly to the left. Most of them are at work. On the weekend I hardly have any. Only when I am in an argument, excessive stessfull situation. However check out the meds I am on: 3600mg Trileptal, 15mg Valium, 3mg Klonopin, 400mg Zonegran/ day I have tried Rescue remedy and Lavender oil for the stress. Everyone thinks a Bomb could go of next to me and I would not know it due to the meds. It's not because of the Benzo tolerance because I just got on the Valium and have been alternating between Klonopin and Chlorazepate adjusting dosages. Does anyone have any ideas for stress other than lifestyle changes?? Thanks for any help, James

Stress is my number one trigger for seizures. Out of curiousity, what do you do for a living? I work in Information Technology. Fast Paced, high demand on you, lots of pressure high stress - even if you work in sales/marketing. What has worked the best for me in the last 5 yrs (when things have been most stressful) even more than all the meds was to go through about 10 sessions over the course of a year, with a stress management counsellor. They help you manage your life and the stress in it better - giving you suggestions, without changing your career, family life or anything to drastically. It's a way to lift the stress off you and hold you accountable for the stress that matters. Basically, I used to worry too much about what my mom thought. Now, I ask for her input, but realize it's my life - I know the areas she worries too much about, so really I just limit what I tell her, know that I'm okay with my life and so I tell her less and less. The one other thing, if you are receptive to change that I'd suggest is join a gym - it's the best thing my stress counsellors told me to do. When life is pissing you off nothing helps to get rid of that feeling more than a great work out. Hope this helps. Good Luck Erin

IT is very stressful! I'm in Online Retail as a Creative Developer. Very competive. I think you're heading in the right direction in looking for ways to direct the energy. The stress management counselor sounds like a tremendous resource. How fortunate you are to have that available to you. Exercise is excellent for stress as well. All day long stress just stores itself up in our bodies as excess energy. I actually bike commute to and from work whenever possible and use this time to release my energy. Puts me in a good mood and gives me time to think. I like to play out my strategies in my head for important projects, practice presentations etc...all on the bike. It works for me. The added health benefits are a nice bonus.
