Muscle twitches with TLE?

Hi folks. Still trying to learn to recognize simple and complex partials following my rather recent diagnosis of TLE. I recognize the deja vu, speech problems, spacing out, etc, and my husband says I sometimes do the lip smacking, but there are a few other things I am not sure of. (Bear in mind that I had a Grand mal on March 25 and have been on Keppra only a few weeks, so i am still probably adjusting and coming down off some sort of "peak" of elecrical activity.) So the question is, can these be related to TLE? 1) Muscle twitches and tingling: One week before my grand mal and subsequent diagnosis, my entire left arm was prickly and tingly off and on for a few days. And, in the past week or so, I have had a return of the tinglies. But yesterday, my left arm was positively VIBRATING. Not like a muscle spasm, but vibrating at a frequency I didn't know was possible! I could talk and think just fine, and even said to a coworker, "Say, do you see that?" (She was freaked out, but that's another issue). It came and went about half a dozen times that day. Also, a couple of nights ago my left leg jerked violently several times while I was reading in bed. 2) Heart palpitations: I have had LOTS of these over the past couple of months, one that seemed to go on forever. They are usually accompanied by sudden fear, but I think it's just because violent heart movements are scary. They don't hurt. Most of what I read about TLE partials are mental, speech, perception, memory, and emotional manifestations. Is it possible to get muscle twitching and heart palpitations with simple partial TLE seizures? Thanks for sharing your experiences or links to other resources! :) --Jules

Coming frome someone diagnosed w/ TLE about 9 years ago, and a long history of petit mal ang grand mal seizures, both of your symptoms go with the territory. I get also get twiches with the temporal lobes, and my heart also beats irregularly. I don't know about yours, because everyone's body acts differently, but I get the auras, the odor, and mine make me so hot when I get them that thake wake me up at night. Your doing the right thing by researching all of this information about the nasty little spells, and you will start to learn the way your body acts during them. I had petit mal from birth, my first grand mal at age 12, temporal lobes started around my 20's, and I am now 33, still have them, and I'm still learning about them. Good luck to you and I hope this helps a bit, Susan

Thanks for your insight. It's hard to find mentions of muscle twitching with TLE, as the articles mostly focus on the sensory effects of TLE simple partials rather than the motor effects. I want to train myself and my husband to recognize even the seemingly "harmless" partials so that I can know whether the meds are working, but I don't want to classify every little blip and quirk as a seizure out of sheer paranoia either! :) So thank you for sharing. Any others??

Just like Cindy, I also get a weird feeling, dizzness, and numbness of my fingers, leg or feet. Then different parts of my body (usually my hands or feet) just twitch. If I feel a twitch somewhere in my body and then I feel it all the way up to my head, I classify it as a SZ. If I just get a muscle pain and the pain stays right at the spot of the pain, I just classify it as getting old. When I say I feel it up to my head I mean my head literraly jerks a little as the pain hits it. That's not normal for a joint pain to make your head jerk with pain is it?
