Migraine induced seizure???
Mon, 11/10/2014 - 12:59Hello. I just signed up to this website. My husband has had migraines since he was about 12 years old and he is now 25. Back in 2008, he had a migraine that caused him to not make any sense. He thought that I was his mom, he didnt know who the president was or what year it was. I took him to the ER they did a catscan but found nothing (he never followed up with the neurologist either). He works nights and last Friday he came home from work at 2:30 in the morning because he began to have another migraine. I woke up when he got home and went back to sleep while he was in the bathroom. He later came to bed but then woke me up at 3:30 because he just kept saying that he didnt feel good. I asked him a couple of questions but I could tell that he was not acting right. I began to get dressed and get him dressed to take him to the ER. Well, he got to the point that I called my mom to come help me but she lives 45 minutes away. He got so bad in just 30 minutes that I went and got my neighbor so that she could help me get him down the stairs but before we could get him up he began to have a seizure (as I know now). He began to smack his lips make weird noises, his whole body tensed up then he fell back against the bed and his body started to convolse. I have never been around someone who was having a seizure so I called 911 immediately. I got him on his side once the convulsions stopped but after he woke up (now on the floor of the bedroom) he started to get up. He hit the light and knocked it over, started kicking the window, etc. Shortly after this the paramedics arrived. He was just screaming, fighting, not making any sense. They had to strap him to a chair to get him down the stairs and then strap him to the bed. Once we got to the hospital we were escorted by about six security gaurds. About two hours after being at the hospital he was finally returning back to himself. He had no clue what had happened. They did a catscan that came back normal. We were sent to the neurologist that day and told that we would be contacted to schedule an MRI and an EEG, which we are still waiting on as of today. This was very scary for me and I am having a tough time with everything. I am scared to leave him alone but yet I have to go back to work. Do you have any advice for my husband and this situation as well as for me?

StarIf you research types of seizures you would finsd that some types of seizures include nigraines. If he hasn't has convulsive seizures before and this was his first then go to work and try and not worry.I do know it isn't easy on loved ones. I am teh one with epilepsy and seizures. I know I didn't have seizures for weeks at a time. As for tests 2 were scheduled the MRI will show anything wrong in the brain. The EEG is basically a brain wave test which shows the electrical output comming from the brain. With a lot of people those tests may show nothing. But that doesn't mean much since he has had this seizure. The neurologist will also probably get information from the hospital to see what was done in the ER. What the EEG is doing is trying to find abnormalities (seizure activity) comming from the brain. If there are any the EEG will know where in the brain it is comming from and the neurologist will look closer in that area. They will look for anything wrong wheiother it was in groth or anything that could cause an impulse to go off wrong. He does need to relax and not get stressed out because stress is one of the triggers many people have that can cause seizures. I hope this helps and he gets the asistance he needs. Please come back and let us know how things went Joe
