Looking for similar symptoms

Hello, My name is Hope, I have not been diagnosed with epilepsy as my EEG only had one 'spike' and my brain MRI came back clean. Yesterday I had a clerical spine MRI to try and find out why my right leg shakes involuntary amongst other issues which include: feeling half awake/half asleep and can feel all of the nerves on right side of body twitching/spasming/shaking. I had a terrible spell of insomnia at end of 2016 which resulted in my RLS getting out of control and was then put on required for that. I had a sleep study done which showed ZERO! PLMD only that I have severe obstructive sleep apnea. The issues I am having seem far beyond RLS and sleep apnea. I have had 2 people witness my body jerk while sleeping and both said there's no way that is only RLS (not neurologists) just friends. I then began having an issue to where every time I drifted off to sleep I would be jolted awake within 45 minutes to an hour like clockwork of drifting off this then resulted in another bout of insomnia. At one point I was not falling asleep until 4am every morning after my body was completely exhausted from this on again off again half sleep body jerks. I've now had 2 what I've called convulsions where I'm asleep completely and I am jolted awake from what feels like someone plugged my entire body into a light socket. I sleep okay for the most part not because of the requip, but do not feel like the RLS is the main issue just a symptom of an underlying issue. My nuero seems to want to chalk it all up to sleep apnea and RLS and call it a day. This is becoming intolerable. The thing after all this rambling I guess I'm looking for is does anyone on here have the half awake/half asleep feeling and can feel their body doing such things? It's like my brain and body have lost some sort of normal connection in a sleep state. I apologize for the long description, I'm at my wits end with what could possibly be going on and am tempted to force a hospital to admit me and ask for a spinal tap to get all of this figured out! It's been almlost a year now

Wondering what you were

Wondering what you were seeing a neurologist for and if they specialize? the EEG is used by neurologists to find out the electrical output coming from your brain.  Today most neurologists specialize in different things that stem from the central nervous system. Epilepsy is one of many ailments that do just that. Neurologists started specializing in the mid to late 1980's. My neurologist back then talked to me and introduced me to a different neurologist since he had specialized in Parkinson's. If these happen at night or while you sleep and they have jerking muscles then please research Nocturnal epilepsy and myoclonic seizures. If you want to help get your issue resolved by all means take some of the people that have seen you to your doctor. See a neurologist that specializes in epilepsy. Take that friend with you

I was referred out to this

I was referred out to this nuero, because I told my medical dr I thought I was having seizures at night. She was not convinced, but referred me out anyways and felt quite proud of herself when results of my EEG were negative and my sleep study showed sleep apnea. If someone complains of possible sleep or night time seizures shouldn't that EEG be done while sleeping or at night, not awake at 9am!! I mentioned to my chiropractor what is going on with me and he feels they are seizures and is actually quite concerned that I have not gone to hospital when these have occurred, so is my therapist.

The EEG is a brain wave test

The EEG is a brain wave test showing the electrical activity coming from your brain. Just like the EKG (ECG) does the heart. Are EKG only showing heart attacks when it is happening? NO a person can have another issue show up on one. The people working in the ER do tests that are done on everybody coming in. They do not know what you have without you telling them what is happening. Generally the person is out of the seizure and back to normal so they will not know who to brain in for you to get results. Your therapist and chiropractor should know that. The EEG shows the electrical activity coming from your brain. Depending on the neurologist and what they specialize in would also mean the different ways they would look at the EEG for results. Clean EEG's are great. But I had 20-25 different EEG's all come back normal. It was during a week long set of tests that they found something on a EEG. By seeing where in my brain they came from they then knew where to look on the tests the MRI took the place of. In their closer look they found scar tissue in the left lobes of my brain. Do research myoclonic seizures and nocturnal epilepsy. One is for muscle jerks and the other is seizures at night or right before or after bed.
