keppra causing grand mals or hormone issues

Mon, 04/17/2017 - 13:13
hello there. my daughter was diagnosed with jeavons syndrome and the doctor put her on keppra. by the second month of taking it, she had a grand mal. scared us to death. she had been having eyelid flutters and staring spells for months before we found out they were due to generalized seizures, and then had a grand mal after being on put on meds. has anyone else had a grand mal after starting Keppra with no history previously? I'd rather her have the eye fluttering than grand mal seizures. She's had a grand mal every other month for a year now and always during her ovulation ever since she's been on keppra. We have finally weened her off and will see how she does in the next couple of months. Just wondered if anyone had keppra cause grand mal seizures or cause issues with hormones.

If you looked at many of the women with epilepsy posts you would see that many women have seizures during their time of month. Hormone issues can cause seizures in some people. That also includes men when going from a kid to a teen. I know I had some isues then.As for the grand mal seizures... Well they are generalized seizures and yes a person can have them while on medications. As for your We weaned  her off// Does that WE include her neurologist?? If not then do notify them since weaning her off means no meds. Which also means she could have more seizures and yes generalized. Which means other seizures you haven't seen her in. Please research generalized seizures to find out the different types of seizures she could have.
