I've been sik, and think I had a siezure. Help.

Hi, guys.

I am a 38 year old male. For the past few months, I have been ill. I have been under severe stress for the past few years, starting with a hearing issue that took me out of work 5 years ago. (severe tinnitus, severe hyperacusis, binaural processign issues, etc....)

The past couple of years have been the worst, dealing with an illness in my now 8 year old daughter. She enters surgery in just a few days.

Back in late August, whent he stress was getting to me, my wife suggested I see a Doc and seek an anti-anxiety med. So I did. The Doc prescribed me 100mg Zoloft. Took the first pill before bed.

The next day, I felt odd. But chalked it up to nerves. I hate medications. Makes me nervous.

Took another pill that night before bed, woke up 4-5 am tremoring, lightheaded, sweating, and other issues. (NOT the siezure, just background) Long story short, I have been diagnosed with Severe Serotonin Syndrom, and can never take anything affecting my serotonin levels.

So, don't take it, problem solved, right? Wrong. Over the next 2 months I proceeded to shed 60 pounds of mostly muscle mass with no explanation. I have been under many Dr's care, and have nothing. Recently, I discovered a bump in my left testicle. Urology did an ultrasound, and came back with the result of "In my 20 years of practicing, I have never seen anything like it".

This lump proceeded to grow into 2, I have one in the right also, and now have a rock hard pebble-size growth in the left side. I'm still waiting for the ultrasound results on that one. (had another ultrasound a few days ago).

I am on a 2500 calorie a day diet, with 2-3 ensure drinks to supplement, and am barely holding on to my weight.

I am waiting for a consult with endocrinology to examine hormone levels.

I know it's not the Zoloft that caused all this, but it was the first thing that happened, and my brain correlates it as the start.

Meantime, I am suffering. This takes us to the present.

Last night, I "awoke" at about 2 am, kicking and flailing my legs uncontrollably.

The experience went like this:

I was asleep. Presumable dreaming. I felt my legs kicking, knees bending inward fetal-like, then kicking. Very fast. I started to wake, but it did not stop. As I became more aware, and realized it wasn't a dream, the kicking slowed. Until it stopped, and finally I could open my eyes. Tight, hurting chest, covered in sweat, sore, and exhausted. Looked at my wife, she did not wake. Next thing i know, it's an hour later. And I kept waking up until I woke up for work at 4:45. (I started working again in September of this year)

Youmight chalk it up to a dream, but the thing is, I have had a siezure before. At 16-17 years old, a few friends and I played this stupid game. Bend over, breathe fast for 30 seconds, stand up, hold your breath until you pass out. My turn, I did it, stood up, and next thing I know I was siezing on the floor.

And oddly, the feeling was EXACTLY the same as what happened last night! Thought I was dreaming, started to regain consciousness, as I grew more aware, the siezing slowed, until I was able to open my eyes. And all of my "friends" were laughing at me. Because I flopped around like a fish. jerks.

Anyway, for years, I ahve had odd issues. The Zoloft/any other similar med sensitivity, odd hearing issues, migraines. My wife and I even got a cali king bed because she was tired of my kicking her all night long in my sleep. And for years, no matter how much sleep I get, I am ALWAYS exhausted. I had a sleep test done, and was diagnosed with extremely inefficient sleep patterns. Whatever the heck that means. Odd, because I sleep like a freaking rock.

So I looked this up, and all of my symptoms point to a possible nocturnal siezure disorder. I don't know what happened, and am actually afraid to call my Doctor.

And yes, I know you all are going to tell me to call. I will. Today. I just need to mentally prepare for it.

Can any of you read my story and possible shed some light/share some experiences/share your knowledge and help me make sense of this? Is this actually possible? Does my experience fit? Or am I just freaking out over some dumb realistic feeling dream?

Thanks, all. I appreciate the help.

Tom
