Hey, Kelly, and welcome aboard. The main website that this forum is a part of is a great source of information on seizures and epilepsy. You can go to www.epilepsy.com and just start drilling down the menus, or to read the article on types of seizures, just go to: http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/types_seizures.html Since you're going to get the EEG soon, you'll have a chance to talk with a neurologist about the other seizures, so my advice would be to make notes on a calendar about what happens so you can be accurate when you talk to the doc. The doc had my EEG results interpreted 1 day after the EEG, and on the basis of those alone he diagnosed me and got me on meds. Anyway, if you read lots on www.epilepsy.com, you'll see that seizures are more common than you might think, that they come in many forms, and that many are preventable with drugs. Good luck, and I hope things go well for your son. I was scared too (my diagnosis is only a couple of weeks old), but I find lots of support and a dose of humor make everything OK. Take care, Juperee :) PS WHat's your son's name?

Hi Kelly, There are many possible causes of these episodes but seizures are one of them. Being evaluated by neurologist is key step. EEG when he is not having a seizure may not show anything but that doesn't mean he isn't having seizures. Take a look at the information section on epilepsy.com for seizure types and what to do when a seizure occurs. There is an animated section for "What is a seizure" that gives very good explanation and first aid. Stay tuned here as well - you'll meet lots of helpful people and gets lots of support! Start making a list of questions to ask your doctor and good luck! Epilepsy.com Resource Specialist
