I never knew I was having Seizures!

A few weeks ago I had two of my 'spells' on a Saturday and one the next day. Saturday night I went to Borders with my husband and daughter and while on the way there I looked at my husband and said, 'I wonder if they're seizures.' I've been having these things since 98-99 and after talking to family and friends I just thought they were low blood sugar...or something to do with stress. It wasn't until I had the two on Saturday that I wanted to look at a book about seizures. After reading about Simple Partial Seizures in a medical book I froze. The 'Deja Vu' symptoms were explained just like I wrote it myself. So, this was new! I had one the next day and called my doctor on monday. She confirmed it suspicious enough to send me to a Neurologist, who also confirmed it. My MRI was normal. I'm getting an EEG on Nov. 1st. Is there anyone else out there that was just blind-sided by this? I'm 34 and pretty healthy and have never had a head injury or illness in my life. Why me? I love this website!

Hi , I am 50 yrs old and I had my first seizure in 42 years. I had seizures as a child up to the age 8. My doctor said when I was a kid that I out gree them. So it was a big surprise to me at age 50 I would have a seizure. The most surprising thing is I didn't know I had it until I was at the hospital. I loss complete consciousness so I woke up dazed and confused. Scary...,

When I first started having my simple partial seizures I thought they were something that everyone went through so I never said anything at first. I thought i was having grandmals (but we concluded that they were vasal vagal attacks), so I was reading about all the different seizures and read about the simple's, and yeah.. thats when i started purseuing my problems cause i also have myclonic jerks, which i thought at first might be tourettes.

It's also funny how people just come out of the woodwork when they find out you've had a seizure. When my pastor at church found out it was announced and I was prayed over. (I wasn't there when it was announced) So when I came there in the evening everyone was like, 'Are you okay?' 'How are you feeling?' with that quiet voice and sad face. Truth is? I feel great. I feel normal and healthy...right now! Ask me after a seizure! I didn't want the looks people give you when they find out. You know? I don't have any tics that I know of. I just started to get serious about it and will record the event next time. I did tell my Neuro that I was able to respond to a co-worker during one, and she said did I know what he was saying? I said, not really. She said, how do you know you were responding or were coherent? I guess I don't know. There's so much to learn. I get a deafness during, too. I forgot about telling her that. It's almost like the pressure is so tight in my head that I can't hear very well. This is all still bizzare to me. Thanks for commenting. I just joined today. I needed 'something' to help me feel connected to what's going on. I'm learning a LOT!
