WelcomeHang in there the EEG

WelcomeHang in there the EEG might show the neurologists what they are needing. Now you posted you got ahold of a medication that helps somewhat.. You also posted  gabapentin which helped for 5 days and failed .OK now what does failed me?? Did it stop some of your seizures?? If it did then it was working. If you had a seizure then it still worked but the dosages need to be adjusted. Finding the right medication and dosage is  a give or take issue. Understand that a medication and dosage that works for one person may not work for the next. each person is different and think of food for a minute. Can everybody eat the same food and have no problems. Some people love Italian food but get gas after t=eating it. Others have the same problem with Mexican food. Can a person drink milk if they are lactose intolerant??  To start with put down your device and researching medications and their side effects and listen to your doctors. They are educated and know about the medications. They also start with a lower dosage then they think will be needed. That is done because it is far easier to increase a dosage then to reduce one. The first medication I was put on I lost my equilibrium on. I took it in the morning and in about 30 minutes I couldn't get from my bedroom to the kitchen which was right down the hall. I started walking and using the walls but I always ended up in my room. Doc took me off that and a week later he gave it to me again (lower dosage) Things went well and used it for about 30 years. It wasn't a side effect but the dosage was too high and at a toxic level. If either of those medications stopped seizures they were working The EEG is a brain wave test showing the electrical output coming from your brain. What a seizure is. It is an electrical impulse hitting wrong in your brain causing a chain reaction. The neurologist will be looking for spikes or waves AKA seizure activity (seizures are not needed to see them) or epileptiforms. If they are seen the neurologist will know where in your brain they came from.  If you haven't had an MRI they may want one. The MRI will show the brain as it is with anything on it. Anything different can cause the electrical impulses to hit wrong. For me the abnormalities came from the left lobes of my brain. The MRI was looked at closely and the neurologists found scar tissue in those lobes that got there when I was 6-7 yoa, Relax you have medications that are stopping seizures and adjustments can be made to stop more seizures. It is finding that gold point that everyone would love to find  That gold point is the right medication and the right dosage at the right time.Relax and research this site and learn about what you have and the different types of seizures you could have. I know you only know about one or two types of seizures but there are many more.Have you ever seen someone you think is daydreaming? Well they may not be daydreaming. They could be having a absence or focal seizure. A person that has a twitch to a jerk in a muscle may be having a different seizure and they too can be seconds long'I hope this helps.. But relax some and don't think about the EEG just go have it and let the neurologist do his job. Always ask questions. If you don't understand ask them to go over it again and to use plain English. Or to put it in the simplest termsJoe
