Husband with seizures cant find origin

I'm hoping that somebody here can help me. If I'm in the wrong place, please let me know. My husband has been having what the drs are calling partial-complex seizures for about 2 yrs now. At first they thought it was post-traumatic since he was in an accident in 1992 and had swelling of the brain with seizures for about a yr afterwards. Then, for about 12 yrs, he had nothing. About 2 yrs ago, it started again and has become progressively worse. He has now been diagnosed with restless leg syndrome, he experiences studdering, headaches, nausea, vomitting, blackouts, severe memory-loss, dizziness, and stronger seizures where his arms are drawn up, but his legs still thrash. During the stronger seizures, he normally experiences loss of consciousness. His neurologist put him on Keppra and Requip, which they just increased for the third time. However, his physicians have pretty much given up trying to find the cause of these episodes. We just found out last week that one of his cousins seems to be experiencing the exact same symptoms. I guess I am asking if anyone would happen to have any idea where we should look now to find the origin of these seizures. Thank you all for your patience and any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated. We would just like to figure it out so that we can get back to a somewhat normal life.

SOme of the problems can be from the meds itself. What is requip used for? You could have a deficiency in iron, folate, or magnesium, because of the RLS and may help with some of the seizures. Talk with your doctor. take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/

I would advise that you get him in to see an epileptologist (neurologist that specializes in only epilepsy). They can run tests and try to find the origin. Requip is a medication to control his twitches from his restless leg syndrome. Thank you for your info.
