Hi, I'm new in regard to seizures

Fri, 10/30/2015 - 21:12
I had three and the first one I collapse I was walking toward my bedroom. I thought it was just a dizzy spell, the only thing I remember that I scream and collapse. I thought it had something to do with the heart as it gave me heart arrhythmia, visit the cardiologist and sent me a test of syncope, went all "normal"I went back to the cardiologist the second time I have the seizure second time driving (God was with me did not have anyone behind me or in front of me), I put the brake and pass the second attack in the car it was stronger than the first time I felt this electricity in my head and I saw like a TV that does not have images. I falls short of breath and my heart was beating fast, not knowing what is happening I went again to the cardiologist and I did a catheterization (to months ago felt electric shocks on my chest) the doctor told me that was normal and only had a bit of heart arrhythmia. four weeks after Cardiac Catheterization and I still felt with electric shocks on my chest . In September 2nd, 2015 I was sitting in front of the computer checking my email and have an other one stronger than ever, First I screen and then feel the electricity in my head passed two minutes, and to recover about 30 minutes, the thing is that the two times given me strong nobody is with me, alone. then gave me a panic attack because I did not know what is happening I call my doctor internal medicine and he told me that what is giving me are seizure and sent me to a neurologist, they send me to do a EEG and the neurologist told me the test was normal. I will discuss the neurologist that I went to his office because I need help and I dont had the attack when I took the exam does not mean it does not have them, I'm not inventing diseases and I was terrified and would not want to have another. The neurologist asks me what I wanted him to do, then I said I do not want to have an other seizure and he gave me medicine to prevent attacks, VIMPAT. 1) I wish that the neurologist sent me to another kind of analysis, to see what happens with my brain. 2) to tell me that's what triggers these attacks 3) and what he can be done for me before giving medicine which have more bad side effects than the disease. I'll be looking for other solutions, the pills will not take, I will continue looking for more information and if I get another seizure i will know what to do. What did you Think I can do?

Any doctor can diagnose

Any doctor can diagnose epilepsy whether he is a PCP or a neurologist. All it takes is 2 seizures to make a diagnosis. To start with start taking the medications prescribed to you.The EEG is a brain wave test showing the electrical output comming from your brain. So if they find abnormalities they know where in your brain they are comming from. All a seizure is "is an electrical impulse going off wrong in your brain causing a chain reaction" Plain and simple explanation. As for your EEG comming back normal thats fine. I had 20-25 different EEG's and all of them came back normal. Then I fell asleep in one which showed abnormalities (spikes or waves) by seeing where they came from they looked closer in that area of what today would be an MRI. By checking that area closer they found scared brain tissue.1) I wish that the neurologist sent me to another kind of analysis, to see what happens with my brain. The longer you wait before treating  your epilepsy the stronger the seizures will be and they will become more frequent.Generally after the neurologists start medications they want another visit 3-4 months later. They want to know if the number of seizures have been reduced or stopped. Or of you are having side effects.. DUring that visit he may make adjustments to your medication. raise or lower the dosage. If the medication is to be taken 2 times a day then those times should be 12 hours apart. I hope this helps Joe
