Help with partial seizures

Mon, 10/02/2006 - 12:44
Hello, I am looking for some advice or someone who has a child like this. My 8 year old was diagnosed with partial seizures due to a stroke at birth. An MRI shows a cyst and dead brain tissue in the left parietal lobe. She has had no developmental delays and is a very active heathly girl. She started trileptal an has had seizure control for 3 months now. Does anyone know if she will outgrow this. Doctors say maybe but if the seizures reactivate she will be a surgery candidate. They are partial motor seizures. We were told we are lucky she survived the stroke and did not have any mental problems or cerebral palsy. We are amazed that it took 8yrs to have an onset of seizures. Any help with this would be great! God Bless
