Hello!

Wed, 08/16/2017 - 19:55
I don't really know why I am posting, think I am feeling a bit lost and don't know where to start with all this. So I had my first seizure when I was 24 and 6 months pregnant. I had gut wrenching nausea, a hot flush and somewhere between a headache and light headed before the world seemed to zoom out and I was looking in to the world, not actually in it and then completely blank. I fobbed this off to stress and just carried on as usual. I had a few more of these and started calling them episodes but I have knowledge in epilepsy so went to my GP who also fobbed it off. I had my last one probably March 2017 but this time I was at work, I somehow managed to answer the phone before I blanked and don't remember anything until I put the phone down. As much as I wish that was the end it's not. I had my first Tonic clonic seizure December 2016. I was taken to hospital and asked questions that I couldn't answer like my date of birth or what year it was. I had a second seizure in the hospital but was sent home the next day and told it was probably due to having a rough night out the night before. (My husband had told them I came home paralytic drunk despite my argument I hadn't drunk much). Turns out muscle weakness may be my first warning. Fast forward 6 months and I have another tonic clonic and smash my head on a wall with my 2 year old watching. Ambulance arrive and I am taken to hospital and again I can't answer these questions. I have another seizure in hospital and get taken to CT while I still out of it, and go straight into a third and status so pulled out of CT and given sodium valproate to stop. I come round back in my bed, my head injury glued and the MD and neurologist at my bedside. They explain I have a seizure disorder and will start tegretol while I undergo further investigation and wait to see neurologist. And sent home. Post my MRI, Spinal Tap and EEG, I know it all came back abnormal, that's all and still waiting to see a Neuro. Last I heard was a possible auto immune indused epilepsy but no one will tell me anything except I have a lesion on my brain so have to watch for muscle weakness. Anyway, my tegretol levels are not high enough to control my seizures based on bloods but my GP won't boost until I see the Neutologist. The past three days I have had the same feelings I get before a seizure. Muscle weakness, that god awful sickness and hot flush and the headache/blur but not seized. Should I be concerned? I hate not knowing anything and get worried I go into status on my own or with my 2 year old. I have been diagnosed with CFS which isn't helping any matters neither. Anyway HI!

Hi. It is normal that you still feel dizzy, flush etc. as you recover. It takes time.It may be wise to have someone at home as you recover, mdomyouhave family around? It is important to see your neurologist as they are the ones that can give you answers and better treatment based on your test results. Do report your symptoms to your go and ask for advice.
