Hi, ginger. I am a 32 yr old female workaholic and I had my first seizure (well, first one I was aware of anyway) a little less than a month ago. I have EEG spiking on the temporal lobe too, so the doc put me on Keppra. Yes, some people have one and only one seizure in their lives, usually when sleep deprived and/or stressed out. So it's possible. But with spiking on the EEG, you have to wonder. The thing about temporal lobe epilepsy is, it's usually "partial" seizures you have, not the generalized "Grand Mal" types that are hard not to notice :) . I would recommend you read up on Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, characteristics of Simple Partial Seizures and Complex Partial Seizures, and see if it looks familiar. For example, how often do you get deja vu? I used to get it about once a week, but recently learned that far more typical is a few times a year, or for some folks, once every 2-3 years! Funny how much I thought was normal or simply what sleep deprivation felt like til I learned about TLE. The parent site to this forum, www.epilepsy.com, has good articles (click on the left-hand side menu to expand "all about epilepsy...") on Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) and on the different types of seizures. Note also that TLE is a little different for everyone. The best thing you can do for yourself is read and be aware, and get lots and lots of regular sleep. Hope to see you on the boards again, and Good luck! :) --Juperee

Hi Ginger, Please try not to stress yourself. Many people have only one seizure in their lives; so, until you have at least two, don't think of yourself as epileptic & don't let what happened depress you, ok? take care, ~sol
