finally getting some answers

Sat, 03/04/2006 - 18:19
just wanted to give everyone an update. I had an echo done on Wed as well as a Holter monitor. Though I haven't received the results back, my pcp has finally given my a referal to a neurologist. I have been talking with several people online that have epilepsy and they have all been very patient with me and very inspiring. I have realized that this has been an ongoing problem for many years. I thank u for all your concern and well wishes. I will continue to keep u updated and in the loop. One more ? w/my referal my Pcp gave me a copy of the EEG and MRI the eeg said it was normal. The MRI showed "a single punctate focus of T2 signal hyperintensity involving the deep white matter in the right frontal parietal region," what is this about? Also could this be why I am having twitching, and drawing up on my left side? I had my car accident at 16 on my left side, however everytime I have "had an episode" I have hit the right side of my head, could both sides be affected or what? I know i know, The neuro will have all the answers but it's nearly 6 wks with no real answers. For those who have asked and suggested it, I am keeping a daily journal, I forget so many things a day now, I have to so I won't lose me all together...lol Thank all of u as always for the continued prayers and support.

Glad to hear you are on the road to getting some answers. Think of the MRI and EEG as pieces of a puzzle. Each finding by itself may not answer the 'problem' and just because it reads normal doesn't mean it won't tell the doctors something! Putting the pieces together will require seeing how the test results go along with symptoms and what other tests may or man not be helpful. Along with the journal, list questions for the doctor so you have them organized for each visit. Sometimes taking another person to help listen and remember the answers, or tape recording the visit can help a lot too! Best wishes, Epi_help
