I was 19 years old when I had my first grand mal seizure; my neurologist told me that, had I started having seizures as a child (9 or 10), I would most likely have outgrown it.  As it was, I did not outgrow it.  Today, at  62, I still take Dilantin and I do have petit mal seizures at least once or twice a year.  Lots of my seizure activity is brought on by stress.  There were doctors trying to tell me that I was having panic attacks,  but I know the difference between them.  My last grand mal was a year ago and the ER physician told me that my Dilantin level was 1.   I keep it around 10 now;  15 years ago, when I tried to get my Dilantin level to 10, I felt as if I'd been "doped up".  Thankfully, I don't have that problem anymore.
