Did I just have a seizure?

Sat, 07/02/2016 - 21:12
Hi everyone, I'm a healthy 17 year old girl and recently had this episode that I am not sure what to make of. Last week I was on a hiking/ camping trip with some friends. One day we wanted to make a big part of our trail, and I ended up exerting myself to the point that I stayed up for more than 24 hours in the heat with little water and food. At the end of the day, I went to sleep and last thing I remember is putting my earbuds in and listening to some music as I drifted off. Next thing I know is that I am woken up by my tent buddy and I find myself shaking and she's asking me if I was okay. I feel confused for a couple of seconds about why she woke me up and when I try to respond that I am fine, I cannot speak. This goes on for 15 minutes or so with everyone in our group trying to figure out what is happening around me and giving me blankets and all throughout I am able to understand everything that is happening but cannot reply. Eventually, I am able to start speaking again and we all laugh about it, but one of my friends suggests that I might have had a seizure and thinks that I should go see a doctor. As things stand, I have insurance issues and I was told a work up for seizures requires a lot of brain scans and other tests, which I cannot pay for. My question is does this sound like a seizure to any of you and should I actually be concerned?
