Diagnosed Today

Hi everyone, how are you? It's nice to meet you all. I have posted once a few weeks back when it was first suggested I may be having seizures and felt I needed done reassurance, then decided not to spend too much time online thinking about a diagnosis I didn't have! Well today I had my EEG and Neuro consult and was told I have Epilepsy. Tomorrow I will have a long EEG, as the Neurologist would like to see if we can get more information from that about the different seizures I'm having but he's told me he thinks it's generalised. I will start Epilim tomorrow.

I actually am very relieved to have answers, a medication ready to start and a lot of hope for life to get back to normal once my seizures are under control!

I would dearly love any recommendations for resources to learn what I can about Epilepsy. Also any resources that will help my 12 years son to learn anything he may need to know would be fantastic. Thank you in advance

Hayley

WelcomeHayley the place to start is on this site in the get help section. All of the sections have information about types of seizures, epilepsy and triggers. There is alot to learn,However I would suggest you call the 24/7 help line that anybody can call to get questions answered. They would know more about the information your son can digest and learn from.  1-800-332-1000  << the number to call and like I posted people are there to answer your quetionsWhat a seizure is "It is a electrical impulse going off wrong in the brain."  That impulse going off wrong causes a chain reaction.(the seizure itself). AI hope this helps Joe
