coming to terms

Sun, 08/24/2014 - 22:04

I am a 38 year old man with a traumatic brain injury in 2001. Somehow 12 years passed before I was diagnosed with an eplileptic focus in my frontal lobe. I went to the Doctor because I was feeling very depressed. I struggled with depression ever since my injury but I assumed that is the way life is for me now. It made sense that would be depressed after my accident. Hitting my head only part of it. At one point I was diagnosed with ADD because I was always frustrated with stuff all the time because I could never collect my thoughts. I was no longer able to perform at a high level under pressure. My skill sets that used to keep me gainfully employed are no more. I lost faith in my own abilities. I know I want to go to college. Looking for advice.

Hi LukeWelcome to the club. Diagnosed with ADD.   It could be something else or that and something else. traumatic brain injury in 2001  I do hop you get answers to your issues and get things going right. Set your sites on the future and do plan ahead. But live for the day and do that first since no one knows what will happen tomorrow. Tomorrow may never come.

What's up buddy. I, just like

What's up buddy. I, just like you just lost my job because of a seizure. I wrote a post about how frustrating it was to lose a job because of something completely out of my control.  It's in the "new to this site" board from around 8/22 if you want to read it. About college, I'm 30 years old and have had seizures since I was 25. I earned my associates degree when I was about 21 - before I ever had seizures. I returned to college - a good college - when I was 28. My seizures have not affected my studies at all. Concentrating can be difficult, but I'm glad I decided to go back and I'm proud to say I'll be earning my bachelors degree in December. If you want to go to college, then go to college. The job market is tough today, so any edge that you can get, take it and college is a huge edge.
