Childhood Absence Epilepsy

Mon, 06/20/2016 - 10:54
My 3 year old daughter just got diagnosed with CAE - childhood absence epilepsy. She had 5 febrile seizures and we pushed to get her a specialist. She ended up having these Petit mal seizures. They are very hard to notice. Anyways, she is developing normal. I am wondering if anyone else has experiences they would like to share? The doctors say she may grow out of them. We have her on euthosoximide and she is experiencing a sore tummy, soft stools, hyper in the mornings, tiredness. Can anyone relate? Does it get better?

Hi! The only suggestion I would make it to try to cut out gluten and cow's milk for a couple of weeks to see if it helps. See my post a few links above.... I tell the story ofmy son, who was was CURED of epilepsy, as it turns out it was a cow's milk allergy causing the seizures! I also recommend viewing the link I posted to the Discovery Health episode about the boy with the dairy/gluten allergy. It's worth a shot to see if she has a simple allergy!
