Cant figure it out

Hi my name is Shannon and I am 32 years old. I experienced 3 gran mal seizures in the last three months in my sleep. I had blood work done all came back fairly normal. My Cat scan came back with chronic sinusitis throughout the cavities in my head. I have my first neurology appointment on September 22 and am terrified of having another before my appointment.I have two small children that wound be scarred for life if they were to see their mommy doin the fish on the floor. My husband is terrified because he is the only one to have seen these seizures which last a long time and leave me completely disoriented. He didn't want me to go to sleep for days after the last one. Any support or advise you could give would be wonderful-Thanx

Shannon, I know that had to be scary for you both! Educating yourself and your family is the best defense for yourself and them and also the greatest way to help diminish the fear. Here are some links that may help: First Aid: http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/firstaid.html http://www.epilepsy.com/kids/kids_firstaid.html This is on the T/C (Tonic Clonic or Grand Mal): http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/seizure_tonicclonic.html http://www.emedicine.com/neuro/topic376.htm I'm sure after your visit to your neuro he will (should) order an EEG. http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/testing_eeg.html http://www.epilepsy.com/articles/ar_1066258237.html In the meantime, you need to be aware of triggers that can possibly cause your seizures, such as: http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/provoke_seizure.html I wish you the best and please know that this sight is full of friendly, helpful people that care. Please keep us posted on how you are doing and if you have the time, check out the chatroom. There is usually people in there to talk to and lend an ear. Welcome! Take care :) -Spiz
