Can Myoclonus be non-epileptic?

Wed, 07/19/2006 - 23:48
If this is the case is there any documentation about this anywhere anywhere on this planet under some unforseen rock that I haven't turned over? When I do a search on arms+shoulders+Seizures which is what my Doctors says I have I get this. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=arms+shoulders+seizures&btnG=Google+Search

Hi Zara- I have Myoclonus and had a biopsy done and they are deciding what the underlying disease is. Could be Epilepsy or about 10 other diseases. It is, to my understanding a neuromuscular seizure disorder and if it comes from the brain it is from the cortex I think. I have an appoint ment on July 31 with a Myoclonus Specialist at UCLA. Let me know if you need any info. Hugs Joan

Any word on what those

Any word on what those diseases may be so I can whittle away at that information having exhausted all avenues of epilepsy with no outer brain activity that they found out of the average. Never had any deep brain scans done, but they keep sending me for them 200 dollar after insurance EEG's that tell me nothing. This is something I've dealt with since I was 5 got diagnosed last year and started medicines then. I'll be 27 next month. Diagnosed with Myoclonus... Andrew Strasser
