Hi. I'm also an Australian, but with an 11 year old daughter who had her first seizure in january - She regularly has complex partial seizures, occasional secondary generalised seizures, and has twice now gone into status. We are still trying to work things out with her medication etc (so far no luck, despite trying tegratol. Epilem and now keppra) but have had wonderful support from Epilepsy Action Australia. They have helped with her school, with liaiosn with the childrens hospital interstate, and with putting us in contact with other parents. Their link is www.epilepsy.com.au - I really suggest you go in here and contact you local state/terriory office. They are in each capital city but also travel out as needed to regional centres. Good luck - its a tough time, but after six months we are starting to accept and learn to live with the ongoing uncertanty that is our lot at the moment.

Another Aussie here *waves*... I split my time between Melbourne and Geelong (about an hour away by car/train). Adult survivor of early childhood brain injury, partial and secondarily generalised seizures... disability advocate, community educator, lots of good info to share :) If you're in Brisbane, your local Epilepsy Foundation is Epilepsy Queensland: http://www.eqi.org.au/ Amongst other things, they provide resources, run support groups, have a parent support and children's program... they have some GREAT stuff for kids (older preschoolers - primary school age) I've met a few Aussie parent on different boards... need to get you all chatting in the same place :) - purplegrrl/Ria
