Hello let me start by saying that I have had migraines since I was 6 and with aura since 17, including some really freaky auras...inability to talk, understand other people, stroke symptoms, blind in one eye, so I am used to odd neurological incidences, and they are always followed within 30 mins by a really nasty migraine. Now something entirely different is happening. I did originally thing is was a new aura. It started a few months ago, happened 3 times then nothing til the middle of august. So here is what happens. I get a sort of nauseous feeling, a really awful metallic taste in my mouth, a strange rushing in feeling in my head. I now know what comes next so I sit down. Within a few minutes I go catatonic. I stare downward and do not moves except for a constant twitch in my thumb. My significant other tries to get me to answer but I cannot. I am aware of my physical body, but remember nothing else after. It takes a minute or two, which feels so much longer, and then I very slowly come out and can give one word answers for the first few minutes. I am extremely tired. My general practitioner is stumped. I have an appointment with a neurologist but not for another month. My significant other is beside himself stressed out worrying about me. I am an EMT so I cannot work. ( partly also because I started Topamax 6 weeks ago which has really nasty side effects) The Topamax I take for migraine prophylaxis also works for seizures so I am now only having 2 a week instead of the 4-5 I was having. Still do not know yet if that what this is. Haven't seen any posts with experience similar to this. Thank you to anyone taking the time to read through this.
