Thu, 07/27/2006 - 11:41
Brief overview...My 3 yo son developed E on March 28, 2006, we failed 4 drugs and diastat was beginning to fail...On June 29, 2006 we traveled to Baltimore MD to see a doc who put T on a Modified Atkins Diet. A typical day for T was to have anywhere from 20 - 80 drop attacks. He was dx with Doose Syndrome (Myoclonic Astatic Epilepsy). 3 weeks exactly into the diet and He is seizure free. Of course we take one day at a time. Right now he has gone 3 days with NONE! It is a blessing. We will be speaking at the Columbus Ohio chapter for the Epilepsy Foundation on August 24, 2006 @ 6 p.m. If anyone is interested please feel free to attend. We will be speaking of our journey and providing info to contact the necessary doc and other enlighting info. BTW, T is the first person in Columbus Ohio to be on this diet for this reason. Won't you please join us? THIS IS NOT A FUNDRAISER OR AN ATTEMPT TO DO SO. THIS IS A FREE INFORMATIONAL SUPPORT GROUP MEETING HELD BY THE EPILEPSY FOUNDATION.

Hi, I use to live in Ohio but now I live in the Pa. My son is on the Keto Diet at CHOP in Philly and he is now seizure free. I wanted to know if your diet is the same as the keto diet if it is not what is the differents? Do you live in the Westerville area because my family lives there and we see them once a year and it would be nice to know other people on the diet. My son is 2 1/2 years old and is doing well but the diet can be hard sometimes. I wanted to know if the diet is hard for you. Let me know I am new to this web site so you can write back to me on my New to Epilepsy comments. Thank you have a great day.
