amnesia during seizures but conversing

Sat, 09/06/2014 - 10:02

i recently has a wreck on my motor bike and was diagnosed with epilepsy as the cause as my prolactin levels were triple normal. an eeg also showed seizure activity in my left parietal lobe and right frontal lobe. my diagnosis now is tricky because i also suffered a concussion (i WAS wearing a helmet) and no one witnessed my accident. i have no memory from the time i pulled out of the parking lot until being in the ambulance. the wreck occured about a half mile from the parking lot but the hospital is about 12 miles away and it took a while for someone to call. what i have found out piece by piece in the months to follow is that i appeared conscious and was answering questions the entire time i thought i was unconscious. this period of amnesia is much more than a five minute episode of a seizure. also, i had an incident 3 years ago where i was renewing my cdl for school. i had let it lapse for a number of years and was going out for a training session and i hit a pole pulling out of the parking lot. i was very distressed and couldn't figure out how it happened. what i didn't tell anyone was that i didn't feel the bus hit the pole. i remember the trainer telling me how to do my hands in the middle of the turn and thinking that that had distracted me. i recently called her and asked her if i had acted funny in any way thinking that maybe i had a seizure then. she told me that i said, "oh no! i hit the pole!" i have no memory of that at all, and didn't at the time. i remember her instructing me about my hands and then telling me to stop the bus. has anyone else had a seizure like this where they responded to people normally but had no memory of it?

on't think the prolactin

on't think the prolactin levels had anything to do with the seizure or diagnosis. Prolactin in generally a thing needed to produce milk in women. The EEG is what was used to come up with the diagnosis. If seizuree activity showed up then you have epilepsy. Also know you could have been having seizures for some time. I had a grand mal seizure at school I do not know that happened from the time I pulled my arms into my jacket until I was being carried into the nurses office. By talking to my friends and others who were around me  there was a period of time which could have been 5-10 minutes. I talked to people. Walked over to benches stacked on top of each other. I climbed on top of the benches pulled my jacket over my head stood up and fell face first on the basketball court. (asphault). I then went into the seizure and came to while being carried into the nurses office. SO yes I do know a person can and they do things without knowing they did them. At other times I was answering questions to quizes in class and my answers were correct but I didn't remember the question or remember answering it. It all depends on the kind of seizure a person has. Since there are 40+ different types of seizures. I hope you get the assistance you need and you get seizure free.
