6 year old going from keppra to depakote.

Sat, 04/26/2014 - 22:01

My daughter recently had a sleep study which showed abnormal brain activity 50-80% of the night.  She had been on Keppra since she was 4.  Her original EEG showed no abnormal activity, but she was put on Keppra with the hope that if she could be seizure free for 2 years she would come off the meds.  After the sleep study she was diagnosed with Complex Partial Seizures. Since her sleep study her Keppra was increased to the max dosage for her weight.  Last week she had a complex partial seizure and the Neurologist added Depakote until we see him in two weeks.  I am concerned about the effects that Depakote will have on her behavior and learning.  Any other parents have any experience with Depakote?
