5 Month old with Seizures

Thu, 02/19/2015 - 11:57

Hi ,

We were blessed with our second baby last year  and he was quite healthy , one day I woke up to see him  having seizure , he did have another episode that very same day ( each lasting for couple of minutes ) . We took him gto the hospital and had his MRI and EEG tests done , both came out to be normal but  he was put on Phenobarbitol .He did not have any other seizures for next couple of months and the doctor did not increase the maintainence dosage of his Phenobarbitol . But right after we had our neurologist appointment he got his 4 month vaccinations and he seized for couple of times ( due to low grade fever ) . I informed this to his neurologist and his daily dosage  of Phenobarbitol is increased .  My husband had seizures when he was a baby and he grew out of them , will  it be the same with my son ?  I  am a working woman but I have not gone back to work ever since this happened , I  wake up every two hours to measure his body temperature .   With increased dosage of Pheno what are the chances of him getting seizures when he gets sick ?  Also he is teething and now I am scared that he might get seizures due to the low grade fever .  Any information  will be very helpful

Thanks,

I am very sorry this has

I am very sorry this has happened but I may only be fourteen but I've had atleast 8 seizures in the past two months and it turns out my grandma is epileptic. I was diagnosed with pseudo seizures which is cause by massive amounts of anxiety or stress and sometimes depression, but I've been on the same medication as you baby and it did help but with all this snow I caught just a light cold and I too seizure, but this time it was in my sleep. I was told I would grow out of it but my grandma never did and neither did many of my aunts they all too had it.... what it sounds like is your baby is either too open with bacteria causing fevers or is around to many people causing stress or even not getting enough sleep. I've had to start sleeping from going to bed at 9:00 p.m. and waking up at 6:00 a.m. to going to bed at 2:00 a.m. and getting up at 6:00 p.m. and with this drastic change my illness has become more drastic so make sure he is in good health mentally AND physically.~Sincerely, Lexi Ellis 14
