2 year first time having seizures

Mon, 12/01/2014 - 14:49

Hello Everyone,

My 2 year old son had his first seizure about 3 weeks ago ( a total of 3) and another set 2 weeks later (a total of 5). The doctors have place him on trileptal. Does anyone else have someone that young on these meds. His EEG, MRI, CT-Scan have all came back fine.

Relax a little. I wan't that

Relax a little. I wan't that young when I was diagnosed with epilepsy. Generally the neurologist that is handling a patient will prescrib a medication that they know will work on a petient. They know generally because they have a patient her age and size or had one that took that medication. As for trileptol I took it yers ago and it did reduce the number of seizures I was having. Doc changed my meds which is why I was taken off. We wanted to see if another medication might give me more control. Do keep an eye on him since changes in the body can effect the dosages strength. I would also suggest yo uget the My Epilepsy Diary which can help you keep track of the seizures. There is a note pad in it so note the seizure and what he was doing also note anything that was different that day. If you give his doctor permission to bring it up he can use it  and by looking at the graphs and other information he can come up with different dosages medications and  procedures that might get him seizure free.. I hope this helps and he does get seizure free Joe

Thanks everyone. I am
