14 Month Old Seizure Disorder

Tue, 08/01/2006 - 00:13
My daughter began having seizures at 6.5 months of age. They are partial complex seizures, sometimes secondary generalized. They have all been status epilepticus, ranging in time from 20 mins to 3 hours, all requiring Diastat to stop. The seizures cycle once per month, almost exactly 30 days apart. This last month she had 3 in a 24 hour period, then no more. Usually it is just one seizure and no more until the next month. She also has a low neutrophil count unrelated to medication. She has been on Phenobarbitol, Topamax, Zonegran and now Keppra and nothing changes the cycle of the seizures. She also has chronic diarrhea and acid reflux that continues still at 14 months old. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this and do you have any suggestions on what else we can do? She has also had 4 normal EEG's and 2 normal MRI's. She has a spinal tap in December that was normal. Her last cluster of 4 seizures in a 24 hours period also included a fever, but she had no other sign of illness. None of her other seizures have involved a fever.
