Drugs and Epilepsy

Okay so I'm 19 years old and since I'm in college I'm starting to blossom into the "party phase" of my life. I am always asked to do some kind of drugs when I am out but I have always said no in worry what might happen. I just came here to see what should be fine to do and what to definatly stay away from. I take 750 mg of depacote and 100mg of zonegran each day and am mostly triggered from lights. Also I have tried marijuana and drinking before and have been completely fine. All answers are appreciated :-)

Cannabis is way safer than alcohol in my opinion. It's just that alcohol is the accepted substance to party with even though it is a known carcinogen, addictive, and kills brain cells...But it's legal so people think it's ok. Remember alcohol is otherwise know as "bacteria urine" and has no medicinal value. Cannabis and the many cannabinoids found in it have some very beneficial properties especially for epilepsy: neuroprotective, anticonvulsant, pain relief, sleep, etc but you have to find the right strain or kind for you. There are many kinds to choose from and that is why you have to start slow and if you like it or it helps try more, otherwise try a different kind if it doesn't work or make you feel better don't just give up on it. Also vaporize, eat edibles, or take concentrated oil rather than smoke if you can. Smoking is the least medical way to use it thought it can also be the fastest acting and strongest when needed. I also recommend using products from cannabis sativa and not hemp. Cannabis sativa has a much larger variety of active cannabinoids and in higher concentrations than hemp. Quality and purity is also very important and not all of the people making hemp oil or cannabis products are doing it for anything more than the $.

know your self and your seizure triggers well first. Ask your doctor for some rescue medicine if you cant get it, cannabis sometimes can stop a seizure so keep some handy. I had no problem with LSD or Shrooms. But if i had a bad trip i would of had an anxiety attack and that would of caused me seizures. Guideline I use (not exact!): Uppers = excite the brain = seizure. downer=usually ok. the exception to this rule is anything that you can have withdraws from will cause seizures aka many pills and alcohol
