Diary reminders

Fri, 11/13/2009 - 08:16

Hi everyone,

Anyone having trouble setting up to have reminders from your diary sent to your phone by text message? If your cell phone carrier is not there, let us know and we'll try to get it added. If it's there but not working right, let us know that too so we can fix it for you. I've found the reminder system great - every day I get text and email reminders about my medicines and then when doctor appts are coming up. Certainly helps me!

Hope rest is going ok and you've had a chance to start a diary. Let me know if you have any trouble or just have questions! When you have a doctor's appointment, don't forget to print out a report and take it to him or her. I'd love to hear if it's helpful or not!

Take care and have a great day!

How can I get it to where it will send the reminders everyday automatically? Thanks. I never though of doing something like this although can you also print reports off for longer than a month? The reason why i ask is that my doctor will not see me until next year in which i am not too happy about!!!

Sending reminders is a great tool. You can have reminders sent to you cell phone via text message or to an email. If you have email on your phone, this type of reminder will then go all places where your email goes - computer, phone etc. If you send text to your cell phone- it will go only there. I suggest that whichever system you use, set an alarm or sound on incoming texts or emails to go off when a new message arrives.

To get this set up, go to the diary, log in, then click on the blue navigation bar on the left hand side that says My Reminders. Then click on the tab that says Reminder Preferences. You can then set up reminders to be sent by email or text messages. Click on which one you want to use and enter the information required, either email address or phone number. If you are setting up text messages, you will be asked to choose your time zone and then your cell phone. There is a drop down menu to choose your service provider. If your carrier is not there, please email us and we can get it added. Once this is done, click on Send Validation Code. A number will then be sent to your cell phone or one sent to your email if you chose that option. A new field will come up and you will be asked to confirm your cell phone number or email by entering the validation number. Then click on Go.

Next, click on the tab that says Medicine Reminders or Additional Reminders. If you choose Medicine Reminders, enter your medicine and times you want to be reminded to take them. Under additional reminders, you can ask to be reminded to make entries into the diary, of doctor appointments, or anything else.

Please note that you have to have entered a medicine into the section About Me to also set up a reminder to take that medicine.

I hope these tips help. Let me know if any problems by responding here or emailing me at patty@epilepsytherapyproject.org. If you or anyone needs 'live' help, let me know and we can arrange a time to do this.

Glad you are finding this helpful!
