Returning Seizures .... maybe

Fri, 11/25/2016 - 23:33
According to my parents, I had seizures when I was an infant, they both claim my last seizure was around 3 years of age, somewhere in Kentucky, when moving from Minnesota to Florida, on an extremely hot and humid day. I am now 43 years old and I have had 3 seizure like events in the past 5 years or so. We are not positive they were seizures because I was home alone for all of them. I don't remember much except waking up in my bed and not knowing how I got there, and not remembering later on the first conversation I had with my wife upon regaining consciousness. I don't remember for sure if the first time I bit my tongue, but the past 2 times I have, the major after effects have been upper body muscle soreness and some abdominal soreness, especially the first time. The latest event was last Sunday evening, I went to urgent care Monday, and the doctor there immediately told me not to drive until I saw a neurologist and fast tracked an appointment for me which was today. The doctor today gave me a neuro exam and told me not to drive for up to 6 months after taking my history, and put me on Keppra and instructed me to schedule an MRI and EEG, the MRI is this upcoming Wednesday the EEG is not until Dec 15. I am a Occupational Therapy Assistant and part of my job is to help senior citizens stand and walk, I am worried that my boss will be worried about liability and limit my ability to do my job, or even worse, tell me I cannot perform my job anymore. I am also at a job site that I love, but it is going to be much more difficult to get to work, as it is in the suburbs and public transportation is going to be difficult to manage, not to mention I am going to need time off for the MRI, EEG, and follow up appointment in the next 2 months. I am kind of freaking out about the situation, has anyone here been in my situation, looking for information about job restrictions anyone would have been put on them, and especially ... has anyone had a 30 plus year break between childhood seizures and starting to get them back again as adults
